Russian strike on Ukrainian warehouse kills 37 in war's deadliest attack this year

A Russian drone attack on a warehouse west of Kyiv, located in Myla village in the Bucha district, resulted in the deaths of 37 people. The warehouse, which Ukrainian officials claim was storing shells, mines, and other ammunition, was struck on Friday night, triggering large explosions and fires that engulfed numerous nearby homes and buildings.

This attack marked the deadliest strike of the year thus far. The assault was part of a series of intense Russian strikes that have persistently disrupted life in and around the Ukrainian capital for three consecutive days. Kyiv officials attribute Russia's strategy of mounting missile stocks and launching major attacks every few days, aiming to exhaust Ukrainian defenses through sheer numerical superiority.

The warehouse strike led to fires that ravaged at least 50 residential buildings, a local official, Tymur Tkachenko, who heads the regional military administration, stated. Among the fatalities, 34 were residents of a nursing home for the elderly, as reported by local media.
