Rockvale football off to 2-0 start, thanks to 1-2 punch at running back

Rockvale's football team has started the 2026 TSSAA season with a 2-0 record, thanks to an exceptional performance from their running backs. Romeo George and Jamarcus Brown, both seniors on the Rockets, have provided the team with both talent and depth, something the program has rarely seen since its inception in 2019. The duo has been instrumental in the team's success, including a 31-30 victory over visiting Station Camp on August 28, a game that ended with Station Camp failing to convert a 2-point try with 15 seconds left.

Last season, Station Camp had beaten Rockvale 32-31 on a 2-point conversion at the end of the game. Coach James Counce expressed his satisfaction with the depth in the backfield, which also includes Stewarts Creek transfer Kingston McQueen. He praised the two running backs for their versatility and their willingness to share responsibilities.

Romeo George and Jamarcus Brown, who were both sidelined last year due to injuries, are returning stronger and determined to make the most of the season. George, who had missed the entire 2025 season due to ACL surgery, and Brown, who missed the final seven games due to an ankle injury, both emphasized their commitment to the team and their shared goal of success.
