Pims fire: PM Shehbaz orders suspension of 8 officials as inquiry panel submits interim report

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif convened a high-level meeting to address the fire at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) that resulted in the death of 14 infants. The inquiry committee presented an interim report, prompting the premier to order the suspension of eight officials. Health Minister Mustafa Kamal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry visited the affected families and conveyed condolences.

The government and the nation expressed solidarity with the bereaved families. The ministers examined the conditions in the children's ward and heard about the hospital's healthcare services. They also discussed steps to enhance patient care and hospital management. Kamal dismissed reports of multiple inquiry committees, stating that only the prime minister's committee, headed by Shahid Khan, was investigating the incident. He warned that the committee would submit its report by tomorrow evening.
