Pilot salary: This is what Lufthansa pilots earn in 2026
Pilots at the Lufthansa Group nowhere earn as much as they do at the core brand Lufthansa Airlines. Nevertheless, they are dissatisfied. Is that justified? The salary check shows the details.
Lufthansa's pilots and management are in a dispute over retirement benefits. The Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) pilots' union has taken the issue to the Cologne District Court after the airline's management cancelled an agreement that allowed pilots to work on union business while still receiving pay. The union describes this as one of the "sharpest attacks" and wants the matter settled in court. The dispute is part of a larger conflict that led to a strike in April, which cost Lufthansa around 200 million euros.
