Pilot salary: This is what Lufthansa pilots earn in 2026
Pilots at the Lufthansa Group nowhere earn as much as they do at the core brand Lufthansa Airlines. Nevertheless, they are dissatisfied. Is that justified? The salary check shows the details.
Lufthansa's pilots and management are in a dispute over retirement benefits. The Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) pilots' union has taken the issue to court, calling it one of the "sharpest attacks" on pilots. The dispute began after management cancelled an agreement that allowed pilots to work on union business while still receiving pay. The conflict has already led to several days of strikes, costing Lufthansa around 200 million euros in the first quarter and April.
