Perak mulls RM500 first‑time marriage incentive to ease financial burden on youths ahead of 2027 state budget

IPOH, Aug 29 — Perak's Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Datuk Khairudin Abu Hanipah announced a proposal for a RM500 First-Time Marriage Incentive for youths in the state. The proposal, which will be discussed and refined by the State Executive Council before being included in the 2027 state budget, aims to alleviate the financial burden on young couples entering marriage.

The incentive targets individuals aged 15 to 35, with eligibility criteria including residency in Perak for at least 10 years. The National Premier Youth Award and State Special Youth Award, both fully funded by the state government, recognize excellence in various categories and provide cash prizes ranging from RM1,000 to RM10,000.

Winners of the 2026 awards included Muhammad Amizan Lokman for male individual, M. Ashhwina for female individual, and the Larut Matang District Youth Council for youth organisation. The final details of the First-Time Marriage Incentive will be decided before the state budget announcement in November.
