Perak mulls RM500 first‑time marriage incentive to ease financial burden on youths ahead of 2027 state budget

Perak is considering a proposal to provide a RM500 first-time marriage incentive for youths in the state. This incentive, which will be discussed further and potentially included in the 2027 state budget, aims to alleviate the financial strain on young couples entering marriage. The proposal was unanimously approved by the Perak Youth Assembly during their recent fifth sitting.

The target age group for the assistance is youths aged between 15 and 35, defined as per the Youth Development and Sports Act 2007. Applicants must be Perak residents or have lived in the state for at least 10 years. The exact eligibility criteria, implementation details, and approval process will be determined by the State Executive Council.

The National Premier Youth Award, which includes three categories for male individuals, female individuals, and youth organisations, and the State Special Youth Award, comprising seven categories fully funded by the state, were awarded to deserving individuals and organisations. Winners of both awards received trophies, certificates, and cash prizes ranging from RM1,000 to RM10,000.
