No scaling down Dasara festivities despite drought, says Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar

Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar firmly denied the idea of reducing Mysuru Dasara festivities this year, citing drought as the reason. He emphasized the importance of the celebrations in boosting tourism and supporting the hospitality industry in Karnataka. Shivakumar urged stakeholders to collaborate with the Karnataka government and enhance the festival's appeal.

He revealed that the state government is devising plans to make the Dasara procession more captivating and innovative. A meeting is scheduled to deliberate on these proposals. Shivakumar also sought the involvement of the army and air force in the procession, and invited film personalities to participate in a tableau. He aimed to prevent duplication in the portrayal of folk arts, suggesting that members of the same art form should perform together instead of multiple teams presenting the same art.

The Chief Minister expressed his desire for improved discipline during the Jamboo Savari. Regarding the inclusion of Kambala in the Dasara festivities, Shivakumar stated that a decision would be made soon, rejecting claims that it would harm the environment or waste water.
