CE urges public to read blueprint, policy address

Chief Executive John Lee urged the public to read the city's inaugural five-year plan and annual policy address after announcing they would be delivered on September 16. Lee explained that the simultaneous release of these documents would help citizens better grasp the connection between them. Speaking at an event hosted by the Hong Kong Island Federation, Lee encouraged people to read both documents together on that date, enabling them to understand how the government develops policies based on the blueprint's direction and strategies for economic growth and improved livelihoods.

The five-year blueprint aims to build upon Hong Kong's strengths, uncover new opportunities for businesses, generate more employment, foster youth development, and tackle livelihood challenges, Lee added.

Zhou Ji, the director of Beijing's liaison office in Hong Kong, emphasized during the same event that Hong Kong's prosperity and stability hinge on district-level work. He called on community organizations to support the SAR government's initiatives. Zhou urged people to take a more active role as stakeholders, promote the government's policies, back the implementation of the five-year blueprint, unite residents in districts, combine their expertise, and contribute to Hong Kong's development.
