Nepal floods: Briefing for families of missing Malaysians to be held tomorrow, says Foreign Minister

Seremban (Aug 29): Families of Malaysians still unaccounted for after severe flash floods and landslides in Nepal's Rasuwa district will be briefed tomorrow, according to Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan. The briefing, which will involve the National Security Council and relevant agencies, aims to provide an update on efforts to locate those missing.

Wisma Putra, the National Security Council's headquarters, is prepared to assist families in traveling to Nepal if necessary, citing the challenge of accessing the disaster zone due to damaged infrastructure. Many individuals initially reported missing have since been located, with Chinese authorities confirming the whereabouts of several others, though their nationalities are yet to be confirmed.

The Malaysian Foreign Ministry's operations room is working around the clock to monitor developments involving Malaysians impacted by the disaster, with additional support provided by staff at the Malaysian Embassy in Kathmandu.
