Farmers, herdsmen crises reduced in Abia in 2026 – Eze Mbah

The Chairman of the Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Linus Nto Mbah, reported a decrease in conflicts between farmers and herdsmen in 2026, leading to improved agricultural productivity across the state. Speaking at the 2026 new yam festival celebration in his community, Ata Igbo Ukwu, Umuzomgbo, located in Umuzomgbo autonomous community of Arochukwu local government area, Eze Mbah attributed the reduction in clashes to sustained peace efforts spearheaded by the Abia State government and traditional rulers.

These initiatives have resulted in increased yam and other crop harvests compared to previous years. He urged farmers to resume their agricultural activities without fear of violence and warned cattle owners against trespassing into private properties. Eze Mbah also emphasized the need for the federal government to prevent agricultural funding and resources from being misappropriated by politicians or individuals without farms, in order to encourage more Nigerian youths to engage in farming, particularly in commercial agriculture once their farms are secured.
