Marquez brothers go one-two at Aragon as Marc claims record 20th sprint win

Italy's Marco Bezzecchi secured a surprising pole position for the Aragon MotoGP on Saturday, shattering the MotorLand lap record and outpacing brothers Marc and Alex Marquez. The Aprilia rider recorded a remarkable lap, finishing 0.089 seconds ahead of seven-time MotoGP champion Marc Marquez. Alex Marquez, riding his Gresini Ducati, trailed by 0.299 seconds and will start the sprint and Sunday's main race in third place.

This marked Bezzecchi's 12th pole position in his MotoGP career and came at the circuit that has been a favorite for defending world champion Marc Marquez, who has won seven out of the 11 premier-class races held at Aragon. Bezzecchi expressed his confidence, acknowledging that the fight ahead will be tough, as both Marc and Alex Marquez are incredibly fast.

Meanwhile, Marc Marquez noted that Bezzecchi was simply too quick in qualifying and conceded defeat in the battle for the title. Bezzecchi and the elder Marquez are aiming to close the gap on championship leader Jorge Martin, who qualified fifth at the Aragon circuit, behind Trackhouse Aprilia's Raul Fernandez and ahead of KTM's Pedro Acosta.
