Bezzecchi tops Marquez brothers for Aragon MotoGP pole

Alcañiz, Spain — Italian rider Marco Bezzecchi secured a surprising pole position at the Aragon MotoGP, surpassing the MotorLand lap record and outpacing his Spanish rivals Marc and Alex Marquez. Bezzecchi's lap time was a staggering 0.089 seconds faster than Marc Marquez, a seven-time MotoGP champion riding for Ducati. Alex Marquez, on a Gresini Ducati, finished 0.299 seconds behind his brother and will start the sprint race and the main race in third place.

This victory marked Bezzecchi's 12th pole in his MotoGP career and comes at a circuit where defending world champion Marc Marquez has triumphed seven times out of 11 events. As both riders chase down championship leader Jorge Martin, the Spaniard qualified fifth, trailing Trackhouse Aprilia's Raul Fernandez and KTM's Pedro Acosta.
