Liverpool agree £123 million fee for PSG's Bradley Barcola

Liverpool Football Club has agreed a £123 million fee for Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola. The 23-year-old is expected to undergo a medical at Anfield over the weekend; however, the transfer will not be completed in time for him to feature in Saturday's Premier League match against Nottingham Forest. Initially valued at £145 million by PSG, Liverpool have managed to secure a deal worth an initial £106 million with potential add-ons totaling £17 million.

The wide forward, capable of playing on both wings, could pose a challenge to Cody Gakpo's place at Liverpool. The Dutch international was previously on Tottenham Hotspur's radar before his move to Manchester City, which has now opened up a potential spot for Cody Gakpo in City's lineup. Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola expressed his hope to retain Gakpo at the club, praising his performance since returning from the World Cup.

Despite unsuccessful attempts to sign Yankuba Minteh from Brighton and Ismailia Sarr from Crystal Palace, Barcola's signing comes after a impressive career with PSG, including three Ligue 1 titles, two UEFA Champions League victories, multiple domestic cups, and the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Intercontinental Cup. The forward has also represented France at the 2022 World Cup, scoring three goals and helping his team secure fourth place.

With Barcola's potential addition, Liverpool's total spending for the summer will reach nearly £215 million, following the club's previous signings of Jeremy Jacquet, Victor Munoz, Ifeanyi Ndukwe, and Ronald Araujo on loan from Barcelona.
