Liverpool agree £123 million fee for PSG's Bradley Barcola

Liverpool have reached an agreement for a staggering £123 million transfer fee to acquire Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola. The 23-year-old France international is set to participate in a medical examination at Anfield over the weekend; however, the imminent conclusion of the deal will prevent Barcola from joining Liverpool for their upcoming Premier League match against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Initially, PSG had set a valuation of £145 million for Barcola. Yet, Liverpool has successfully secured the forward with an initial payment of £106 million, with a potential £17 million in additional payments if desired. The forward, a left-sided wide player, could pose a significant challenge to Cody Gakpo's position at Anfield. Barcola's arrival may also impact Manchester City's options, as they had previously shown interest in Liverpool's Cody Gakpo before the latter's transfer from Manchester City.

Notably, Barcola's transfer fee could push Liverpool's total spending for the summer to near £215 million. This includes the £55 million paid for Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet, the £34 million invested in Osasuna winger Victor Munoz, the £2.6 million spent on Austria Vienna defender Ifeanyi Ndukwe, and the loan deal for Ronald Araujo from Barcelona.

Despite Liverpool's unsuccessful attempts to sign wingers Yankuba Minteh from Brighton and Ismailia Sarr from Crystal Palace, Barcola's impressive career at PSG offers a strong reason for Liverpool to make the deal. He has won multiple titles with the French club, including three Ligue 1 titles, two UEFA Champions League titles, the French Cup twice, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.

Moreover, Barcola starred for France at the recent World Cup, scoring three goals and helping Les Bleus secure a fourth-place finish.
