Hindu wanting Muslims out of India won’t remain a Hindu: Mohan Bhagwat in New York

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, speaking at a conference in New York, asserted that a Hindu who believes Muslims should be expelled from India cannot still identify as Hindu. Addressing the Faith Leaders Conference, Bhagwat emphasized that Hinduism's concept of unity of humanity precludes such exclusionary views. He argued that socio-religious organizations must focus on societal influence before engaging in politics, which he sees as driven by self-interest.

Bhagwat contended that if one truly believes in Hinduism, they must recognize the inherent dignity and divinity in all people, regardless of faith. He highlighted India's historical tradition of sheltering various religious communities and stressed that diversity enriches, rather than diminishes, the underlying unity of humanity.

Bhagwat also recounted the RSS's past efforts in disaster response, showing how their approach transcends political boundaries. He urged continued dialogue and service as foundations for influencing public opinion, which in turn can shape political will. Critics, such as New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, have condemned Bhagwat's vision as exclusionary and at odds with India's pluralistic ethos.
