GWL restores water supply after damaged pipeline disrupts Western Accra communities

Ghana Water Ltd (GWL) has successfully repaired a damaged main pipeline and re-established water supply to various communities in Western Accra. The disruption occurred on August 29 when the pipeline was damaged during excavation works carried out by AVERCO Construction Ltd. The affected areas included Mallam, Darkuman, Nshorna, Machetato, Korle Bu, Mamprobi, Dansoman Township, and Chorkor.

GWL's engineers and technical teams worked tirelessly to repair the damaged section, enabling water supply to resume in the impacted regions. However, the company advised that some customers might still face low water pressure or intermittent flow as the network's pressure levels stabilize. GWL has requested residents to exercise patience during this restoration phase and allow time for a complete recovery of normal service.

The management expressed gratitude to the affected customers for their patience and cooperation, while recognizing the efforts of other stakeholders in facilitating the swift completion of the repairs. Customers who continue to experience issues with water supply are advised to report these problems through GWL's official communication channels.
