Asim Munir witnesses trials of locally manufactured arms, ammunition at ordnance factory

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, paid a visit to Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) in Wah on Saturday. The ISPR reported that the purpose of the visit was to assess the factory's production capabilities, export potential, and its contribution to Pakistan's defence industrial base. During the tour, Munir received an update on the various operations of POF and its role in bolstering national defense through the development and production of a diverse array of military equipment.

The chief of army staff also had the opportunity to observe trials and tests of arms and ammunition produced locally at the factory. According to the ISPR, these trials highlighted POF's dedication to innovation, self-sufficiency, and bolstering Pakistan's indigenous defense production capabilities. Furthermore, Munir was informed on the progress of the corporatization process following the implementation of the Defence Industrial Production and Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DIPRA) Ordinance.

The chief of army staff was also given a briefing on the ongoing indigenization and upgrading initiatives, which include the construction of two new industrial plants that are set to commence production by the end of the year. The visit illustrated the military's dedication to fostering self-reliance, indigenous production, and technological innovation within Pakistan's defense sector.
