FMGE To Be Held Thrice A Year; NBEMS Announces Additional Exam On October 31, January 2027 Test Rescheduled

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced significant changes to the schedule of the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE). The screening test will now be conducted three times annually instead of twice. An additional FMGE is scheduled for October 31, 2026, providing foreign medical graduates with an extra opportunity to take the exam this year.

The FMGE is for Indian citizens and certain overseas citizens of India who completed their primary medical qualification abroad and wish to practice medicine in India, subject to applicable requirements.

The notice from NBEMS states that the additional FMGE will be held on October 31, 2026, via a computer-based examination platform across various centers nationwide. Candidates are advised to await the official Information Bulletin on the NBEMS website for details about the application process, eligibility, examination fee, important dates, centers, and instructions.

Furthermore, NBEMS has rescheduled the FMGE originally set for January 9, 2027, to a later date in January or February 2027.
