Andoni Iraola was furious after Liverpool's 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest, but not because of the penalty incident. The Basque head coach was upset with the officials' decision to take three minutes to complete a triple substitution in the 71st minute. Iraola expressed his frustration to TNT Sports, stating, "You analyse the penalty, but a professional official cannot take three minutes to [make] the subs."

He was already annoyed before the throw-in, as the play was stopped for the substitution, which he felt should have been executed immediately. Despite the delay, Iraola acknowledged that his concerns were justified, but he also believed Liverpool needed to improve their performance. The team started the season with only two points from six possible points, having lost to teams that didn't finish in the top 10 of the Premier League.
