Swiss Foundation invites CM Punjab to HK Sustainability Summit

Lahore: A Swiss sustainability organization, the Noble Sustainability Trust (NST), has honored Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif for her environmental initiatives and recognized her potential to address global challenges. NST Chairman Peter Nobel has extended an invitation for CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz to participate in and speak at the NST Award Gala and Summit 2026, scheduled for September 30 in Hong Kong.

The summit aims to unite world leaders, scientists, and policymakers focused on sustainable development, according to an NST report.

Punjab has been progressively embracing real-time monitoring, digital platforms, and data-driven systems to tackle environmental issues, the report added. Under CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz’s leadership, the province has implemented technology-based systems to pinpoint pollution sources, evaluate environmental risks, and enhance collaboration among departments in combating smog.

The report highlighted that the provision and utilization of advanced equipment have made air-quality management in Punjab more transparent and efficient.

Furthermore, NST noted the application of remote monitoring technology to curb illegal logging and hunting, alongside the promotion of satellite and other modern technologies for wildlife protection, breeding, and conservation. Peter Nobel emphasized that Punjab's progress toward technology-driven governance could serve as a model for other regions.

Founded in Switzerland in 2007 by members of the Nobel family, NST is a philanthropic organization dedicated to improving the environment, reducing air pollution, and enhancing quality of life. The trust operates independently of the Nobel family.
