Policeman’s ‘abduction’ triggers protests in Lakki

Lakki Marwat witnessed protests on Thursday following the alleged kidnapping of a police constable from Peshawar. The Police Aman Committee, a peace body of serving police officials, and locals from Kurram Par area convened meetings and demonstrations at Police Lines and Kurram Bridge, demanding the safe recovery of the missing officer.

The Police Aman Committee's president, Khalid Khan, alleged that Constable Samiullah, an active committee member from Landiwah, was kidnapped from Pushtakhara Police Station within Peshawar limits. Khan stated that the officer was untraceable and that the committee was in contact with local and higher police officials for his safe retrieval.

All personnel from police stations, posts, and duty stations gathered at Police Lines to hold a protest meeting and devise a joint strategy. Residents of Landiwah and nearby villages blocked the Peshawar-Karachi Highway near Kurram Bridge, placing barriers to protest Samiullah's disappearance. This was the second such incident in a week, with the previous case involving Anwar Khan's vanishing five days ago.

The newly-appointed district police officer, Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada, tried to negotiate with the protesters, but the highway closure disrupted local transport and caused traffic congestion in urban areas.
