Police agency issues special alert on discipline

The Korean National Police Agency (KNPA) has issued a special alert on discipline following a series of cases involving officers mishandling their duties. This comes after the recent revelation in Jeju of a police officer falsely closing a missing person case without verifying the individual's safety. The alert will be in effect nationwide for ten days, ending on September 6th.

During this period, police agencies will intensify inspections of officers' conduct. As part of the alert, group meals will be prohibited, and officers are asked to avoid drinking. Events are also discouraged or postponed if possible. The KNPA and all metropolitan and provincial police agencies will hold meetings related to the special alert at least once. Additionally, front-line police stations and mobile units will conduct these meetings daily.
