Photos: Mahama cuts sod for seven-storey car park, commercial complex at Accra International Airport

Accra International Airport has witnessed the cutting of sod for a new Multi-Tiered, Multi-Purpose Carpark and Airport Hotels Complex, under President John Dramani Mahama's guidance. This facility, envisioned to be completed within two years, will include a seven-story car park, two hotels, a pedestrian link to Terminal Three, over 2,000 parking spaces, a shopping mall with a food court and retail spaces, a sky lounge, and an aircraft viewing observatory.

President Mahama highlighted the project as a proactive measure to accommodate future demands and enhance the passenger experience. The initiative, initiated in response to escalating passenger traffic and capacity constraints at Terminal Two, aims to bolster Ghana's position as a key aviation hub in the West African region. The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) is spearheading this development, which will not only expand parking capacity near Terminal Three but also optimize land use and improve traffic flow within the airport enclave.
