No more waiting as Geely finally prices all-electric Riddara bakkie

Geely has finally announced the pricing for their long-awaited electric bakkie, the Riddara, in South Africa. The announcement was made at the Kyalami Festival of Motoring on Thursday (27 August). The Riddara, previously known as the Radar Horizon in its home market, was previously postponed at a previous launch event in Free State. The vehicle is produced by Geely in South Africa, following an earlier launch in China.

The Riddara was developed on the M.A.P platform, based on the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) created by sibling brand Zeekr. The unibody vehicle has dimensions of 5,260 mm in length, 3,120 mm in wheelbase, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,830 mm in height. It also features a ground clearance of 225 mm and offers a payload of 1,030 kg, towing capacity up to 3,000 kg, and wading depth of 815 mm. Additionally, there is a storage capacity of 70 litres beneath the bonnet.

The Riddara comes in three variants, each powered by either a single or dual electric motor. For now, the plug-in hybrid EM-P is not included. The Aspire Econ, rear-wheel-drive variant, uses a 63-kWh battery, providing a range of 369 km. The dual-motor four-wheel drive Aspire Econ comes with a 73-kWh battery and a range of 390 km. The flagship Apex RD6 is powered by the same battery but with increased power and torque, delivering a range of 424 km and a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 4.5 seconds.

All Riddara variants include a drive mode selector with five settings: Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sand, Mud, and Off-road. Both the Apex and RD6 can be charged with DC charging up to 110 kW, which takes 30 minutes to go from 30-80%. Vehicle-to-load up to six kilowatts is also supported by all variants. The Riddara is available in a variety of colors, with three color options for the Aspire variants and five colors for the Apex RD6.

Black leather upholstery comes standard with the Aspire variants, while the Apex offers tan, green, or black leather options. Lastly, Geely included a six-year/100,000 km warranty, a six-year/120,000 km service plan, and an eight-year/200,000 km battery warranty for all Riddara models. The first 200 buyers will receive an additional 50,000 km on the warranty and 20,000 km more on the service plan.
