I’ll reopen borders, develop southern ports if elected — Atiku

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has pledged to reopen Nigeria's land borders if elected president, according to a video address to supporters. He highlighted how the closure of these borders has negatively impacted transborder trade and unemployment, particularly among young people who previously operated businesses involving capital in the millions of naira.

Atiku specifically mentioned that opening the borders would benefit young men and women who were previously employed and contributed to the economy. He also discussed his plans to improve the movement of goods through southern ports, stating his intention to develop South and South-Eastern ports to balance importation and transportation of goods, which would reduce transportation time and costs to the North-East.
