ICT can help clear court backlog – Supreme Court nominee Forson

Supreme Court nominee Anthony Forson Jnr. highlighted Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a crucial solution to the ongoing case backlog in Ghana's judiciary. Speaking before Parliament's Appointments Committee on August 27, Justice Forson, who has experience in digitalizing the Ghana Bar Association, emphasized his suitability to aid Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie's backlog-clearing efforts with the right resources.

"I am fully confident that I possess the skills to utilize ICT to resolve the cases backlog, it is achievable. If there is the determination," he stated. He also endorsed afternoon court sessions as another measure to expedite case resolution, despite anticipating possible opposition from the legal community. "I am convinced that afternoon court sittings should be implemented; there will be resistance from lawyers because they require rest. Yet, we must progress; the key element is ICT, and it is feasible," he concluded.
