Honda, Nissan to reach deal on joint development of vehicle software, Nikkei Asia reports

Honda Motor and Nissan Motor are reportedly set to reach an agreement on Monday, according to Nikkei Asia. The collaboration aims to develop a shared operating system and onboard computer for new vehicles, potentially starting as early as 2029. Honda has confirmed that no deal has been finalized, but the Japanese automaker is exploring potential areas of collaboration with Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors under their existing strategic partnership.

Nissan's CEO, Ivan Espinosa, previously mentioned that the company was discussing possible software collaboration areas with Honda. This development comes over a year after Nissan and Honda suspended merger talks to form a $60 billion car company.
