Honda, Nissan to reach deal on joint development of vehicle software: report

Honda Motor and Nissan Motor are reportedly close to reaching an agreement to collaborate on developing a shared operating system and onboard computer for new automobiles, according to the Nikkei newspaper. The development of this technology could potentially begin as early as 2029. Honda has not yet announced a finalized deal and is currently discussing potential collaboration areas with Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors under their strategic partnership.

Nissan has also indicated its willingness to explore software collaboration possibilities with Honda, though the company has not yet made a formal announcement. This potential partnership comes nearly a year after Nissan and Honda terminated merger talks that were valued at $60 billion. Nissan has not yet provided a response to these development reports.
