Former teacher’s aide faces three sexual charges against 11-year-old boy at Singapore school

On August 28, a 15-year-old man from Singapore was charged with three sexual offenses involving a 11-year-old student. The charges include two counts of procuring an obscene or indecent act against a child under Singapore's Children and Young Persons Act, as well as one count of molestation. The man, whose name and school remain undisclosed due to a protective order, is said to have carried out the alleged offenses on March 7, 2025, and February 13, 2026.

The first incident reportedly occurred in an activity room, where the man allegedly directed the child to perform an indecent act on him. A second incident is alleged to have taken place around 3:30 PM on the same date, during which the man is accused of touching the boy's genitals while he was still clothed. The case is set to be heard again on September 24.

For first-time offenders under the CYPA, penalties can range from a jail term of up to seven years and a fine of up to S$10,000, or both. Repeat offenders face up to 10 years in jail, a fine of up to S$20,000, or both. If convicted of molestation, the man could be sentenced to up to five years in prison, a fine, caning, or any combination of these punishments.
