Don’t let Atiku deceive you about fuel subsidy – Sowore warns Nigerians

In a recent warning to Nigerians, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, cautioned against allowing former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to deceive them about fuel subsidy. Sowore asserted that the African Action Congress (AAC) was the sole party to maintain its stance against the removal of the subsidy, while Atiku, the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), had altered his position and was now attempting to keep up.

Recall that Atiku had previously pledged to reintroduce the fuel subsidy regime if he were elected president in the upcoming 2027 general elections. Sowore contended that the withdrawal of the fuel subsidy by President Bola Tinubu's administration had not benefited Nigeria in any way. In response to Sowore's warning, he cautioned Nigerians against believing Atiku and his "clowning group" regarding the fuel subsidy or pretending they played a part in the chaos currently affecting Tinubu's regime.

Sowore emphasized that their firm and unyielding position at the Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt prompted the Tinubu administration to flee. He further stated that these established politicians were prone to changing their positions based on political convenience and foreign capitalist control, and should not be allowed to rewrite history or suddenly portray themselves as opposition.
