Check out the 11-member committee inaugurated to implement Ghana’s Constitution review

Attorney General and Justice Minister Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine has officially convened an 11-person Constitution Review Implementation Committee (CRIC) to steer the execution of Ghana's 1992 Constitution revision proposals. This committee is presided over by Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, the Presidential Legal Counsel and a former Attorney General and Minister of Justice.

The committee's members include Marietta Agyeiwaa Brew as Chairperson, Dr Justice Srem Sai, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, Charlotte Osei, Dr Rainer Akumperigya, Emelia Ankomah as Majority Representative, Kwame Ayimadu Antwi as Minority Representative, Samuel Passah representing Local Government, Oliver Baker Vormawor as Secretary, Salamatu Iliasu as Draftsperson, and Eric Owusu-Mensa from Parliament.

The diverse group of legal experts, parliamentarians, local government officials, and other specialists aim to bolster the constitutional review process. The inauguration of the committee follows the government's position paper on the recommendations from the Constitution Review Committee headed by Professor H. Kwesi Prempeh. This 11-member committee will review the government's stance alongside the review committee's suggestions, ultimately crafting a roadmap for implementing these proposals.

The government emphasizes this process will be marked by inclusivity and transparency, with the overarching goal of enhancing Ghana's democratic governance.
