AG inaugurates 11-member committee to implement Ghana’s proposed constitutional reforms

Attorney General Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine inaugurated an 11-member committee to implement Ghana's proposed constitutional reforms. The Committee Review Implementation Committee (CRIC) will begin work on proposals for revising the 1992 Constitution, following the release of the government's position paper on the recommendations from the Constitution Review Committee chaired by Professor H. Kwesi Prempeh.

Presidential Legal Counsel and former Attorney General Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong chairs the new committee, with members representing various sectors of Ghanaian society. Emelia Ankomah, who represents the Majority in Parliament, and Kwame Ayimadu Antwi, who represents the Minority, are both part of the committee. The committee's task includes examining the government's position paper alongside the Constitution Review Committee's recommendations and developing a comprehensive framework for implementing the accepted proposals.

The committee's creation marks the next phase in the constitutional review process, which aims to provide a structured approach to translating the accepted recommendations into concrete actions. Government has pledged its commitment to an inclusive and transparent constitutional review process, emphasizing the importance of reflecting the aspirations of Ghanaians and strengthening democratic governance.
