The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) recently held a public hearing to investigate potential competition issues within the Pakistani real estate sector. Attendees included consumers, investors, developers, regulators, and representatives from various government bodies. The hearing focused on deceptive marketing, misleading claims, hidden charges, and inaccurate representations of project approvals.

Participants shared their concerns, experiences, and viewpoints directly with the CCP. The Commission, under the leadership of Chairman Farid Ahmad Tarar and Member Bushra Naz Malik, aimed to gather all perspectives before determining appropriate actions. False advertising, undisclosed fees, and inaccurate information regarding approvals were identified as significant concerns for consumers investing large sums of money.

While consumer testimonies highlighted alleged deceptive practices by developers and housing societies, industry representatives pledged their commitment to adhering to relevant laws, including the Competition Act.
