Attention Mumbai Flyers! Flying International From The City After Sept 30? Know This Major Update On CSMIA Starting Oct 1

Mumbai travelers scheduled to fly internationally after September 30, 2026, should be aware of significant changes at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (Mumbai International Airport). Beginning October 1, one-third of air traffic at the airport will move to Navi Mumbai International Airport. This adjustment could impact passengers who have already booked flights for travel following September 30, as the airport or terminal listed during booking may alter.

Approximately 30% of international flights are expected to shift from Mumbai Airport to Navi Mumbai Airport by October 1.

A further change is set for October 25, when a third of flights currently departing from Terminal 1 will transfer to Terminal 2. Passengers holding advance reservations are advised to verify their flight information with their airline before departure, as the terminal mentioned at booking time may change. Work on demolishing the northern section of Terminal 1B is scheduled to commence January 15, 2027.

Mumbai's Terminals 1 and 2 collectively manage around 950 flight movements daily. Terminal 1, nearly 80 years old, has already undergone partial demolition as part of its redevelopment, handling 15 million passengers annually, while Terminal 2 can accommodate approximately 40 million passengers annually.
