Anwar to refer Saravanan’s letter to MACC

Former Human Resources Minister M Saravanan has stated he is not embarrassed by the accusations against him, as he is confident of being acquitted. Kuala Lumpur: Saravanan claims he wrote a letter to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim regarding the corruption charge against him, but denies requesting help to have the case dismissed. Saravanan said the letter was only to request a thorough review of his case, as he claims the accusations against him are baseless.

"I did not write this letter to the Prime Minister to ask for the case to be dismissed or for protection," he said during a media briefing at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex after being charged in the Sessions Court this morning. The MIC deputy president was charged with three corruption allegations totaling RM1.097 million related to the approval of foreign labor quotas.

However, Saravanan said he is not embarrassed by the case and confident of being acquitted after the trial. "I do not feel embarrassed by this case. When the truth is revealed, those who accuse me will feel embarrassed," he said. The Tapah MP also affirmed that he does not recognize the individuals or corporate entities named in the complaint letter.

He has already offered full cooperation to the legal process and wants the case to be discussed without any delays. "I want to clear my name in court as soon as possible," he said. According to Saravanan, the trial will eventually give the public a clearer picture of Malaysia's political reality and its politicians. "When this trial is finally over, the public will have a clearer picture of Malaysia's political reality and its politicians," he said.
