‘Let MACC, AGC look into it’: Anwar leaves Saravanan’s letter to authorities

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has instructed the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) to investigate a letter from MIC deputy president M. Saravanan alleging his involvement in foreign worker recruitment. Anwar told reporters outside Masjid Sembilang in Seberang Jaya that he would refer the letter to the appropriate authorities to ensure proper jurisdictional investigation and prosecution.

He emphasized that it was not his place to draw conclusions or make statements before the matter was decided by the courts. Saravanan, also a Tapah MP, had previously expressed regret over the baseless accusations, stating he had never personally recruited foreign workers nor involved family members in the process. He also mentioned that a Cabinet memorandum from April 13, 2022, and the establishment of a special one-stop centre involving multiple ministries would expedite the recruitment process and clarify the authority of the Human Resources Minister.
