₹3.02-cr bio-fertilizer lab to come up at Yendada
A bio-fertilizer production laboratory, costing approximately ₹3.02 crore, is set to be constructed at Yendada in the Visakhapatnam district as part of the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana. The foundation stone for the facility was laid by Bheemili MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Friday. The State government has been focusing on agriculture and supporting farmers through various measures such as procurement centers, market intervention, and storage facilities.
Srinivasa highlighted the detrimental effects of excessive chemical fertilizer usage on soil health and emphasized the importance of promoting bio-fertilizers. Yendada in the Bheemili Assembly constituency is one of three locations in the State where new bio-fertilizer laboratories are being built. District Agriculture Officer Appalaswamy stated that the laboratory will produce bio-fertilizers like Azotobacter, Azospirillum, and Rhizobium, which will enhance nutrient availability in the soil, promote root development, and maintain soil health.
These bio-fertilizers will also help reduce reliance on chemical fertilizers, cut cultivation costs, and foster sustainable and environmentally friendly agricultural practices. In addition to producing the bio-fertilizers, the facility will serve as a platform for training farmers and field-level staff and conducting field demonstrations.
