X account of outfit organising RSS event in US suspended ahead of Bhagwat's address

American Hindus for Engagement and Dialogue (AHEAD), organizers of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's event at New York's Madison Square Garden, had their X (formerly Twitter) account briefly suspended. The account, @AheadForum1, was later restored by X after it was suspended due to what AHEAD believed to be automated activity from misguided opponents trying to game the platform's algorithm.

The event, titled "Universal Oneness Celebration," is scheduled for August 29 and is expected to draw around 5,000 Indian Americans. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani expressed his disapproval of the event, though he acknowledged the city may not have the authority to cancel a private gathering. The event has faced criticism from left-liberal groups and Indian political parties, and a security advisory has been issued by the Hindu American Foundation urging attendees to remain vigilant.

The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom has also called for sanctions against RSS members and Indian officials involved in religious freedom violations in India.
