World champion Shin Peng ruled out of Asian Games after ACL setback

KUALA LUMPUR - World wushu champion Si Shin Peng's hopes of competing at the upcoming Asian Games have been dashed due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury sustained during training. The 24-year-old underwent an initial operation but required a second procedure due to complications, forcing him to withdraw from his debut in the Aichi-Nagoya edition of the Asian Games slated from September 19 to October 4.

Shin Peng, who previously won gold in both men's jianshu and qiangshu events at the World Championships in Brazil, accepted the setback stating, "I was considered for the Asian Games, but I had no choice. I had to go through this second operation to save my wushu career." Despite his absence, Malaysia will field a seven-member squad in the taolu events, with Tan Cheong Min leading the team.
