US immigration crackdown expands — to people entering legally

The Trump administration is broadening its immigration crackdown to encompass those who enter the U.S. legally, in addition to the individuals who arrived illegally from Mexico and other countries. The State Department has temporarily halted all immigrant visa applications to provide consular officials worldwide with training on a new policy aimed at excluding potential public burdens.

Simultaneously, the administration is preparing to revoke up to 200,000 business and tourism visas from foreigners who applied for asylum, a move that would be the largest mass revocation of visas in U.S. history and could face legal challenges.
