Trump says he had 'good talks' with Putin, Russia is 'not going to attack' NATO territory

In a telephone interview with Axios, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed no concerns over a potential Russian attack on a NATO country, stating, "I'm not concerned at all... There is no problem." This comment came amid worries among European leaders that Russia might test NATO's resolve and commitment to Article 5, the collective defense clause, through a partial assault or other military provocations.

The CIA Director John Ratcliffe's recent trip to Moscow, where he met with his Russian counterpart Sergei Naryshkin, was also under scrutiny, with several media outlets suggesting it was a move to deter Russia from attacking a NATO nation. However, Trump dismissed these reports, describing Ratcliffe's visit as "standard business" and expressing confusion over the media's interpretation of it.

Naryshkin affirmed that their discussions were part of their routine work, focusing on intelligence matters. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently warned that Putin is planning to mobilize 500,000 troops to resume aggression in Ukraine, and Russia is constructing infrastructure to host 30,000 additional North Korean troops for deployment in the conflict.

Russian drones have recently been shot down in the airspace of several NATO members, including Romania and Poland. The Russian Foreign Ministry recently criticized the United Kingdom and France for supplying Ukraine with technology that could enable long-range attacks deep inside Russia, threatening to attack British military targets in Ukraine and beyond if the aid continues.
