Ekiti PDP denies mobilising support for Makinde’s 2027 presidential bid

The Ekiti State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has categorically denied allegations that they are actively recruiting supporters for Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde's bid to run for president in the 2027 elections. The claim also suggested that the PDP is collaborating with the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) to promote Makinde's candidacy.

In response to the report, the state PDP chairman, Lanre Omolase, stated that the information was false, fabricated, and unauthorized. He emphasized that the Ekiti PDP leadership had no involvement with the APM or any campaign aimed at rallying support for Makinde. Omolase firmly distanced himself and the PDP leadership from the reported mobilization effort, stating that no such initiative had been initiated by the party.

He accused Makinde of a history of treachery and expressed the party's unwillingness to support him. The chairman called on PDP members, supporters, and the general public to disregard the report and any other political statements attributed to the Ekiti PDP without official approval. The party warned against the misuse of its name or structure for personal political gains.

Ekiti PDP remains dedicated to internal discipline, due process, and ensuring that only officially sanctioned individuals represent the party. It also urged the media and the public to verify information before associating the PDP with political positions, particularly regarding the 2027 presidential election.
