TCN blames Eko Disco feeders for Lekki transmission fault

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has blamed faults on the feeders of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDP) for a recent transmission fault at the Lekki Transmission Substation. TCN clarified this information following misinformation spread by EKEDP regarding the incident. According to TCN, the fault occurred when EKEDP's Oniru 33kV and Agungi 33kV feeders simultaneously tripped at approximately 4:34 a.m. on August 26 due to overcurrent and earth fault.

This led to the inter-tripping of TCN's primary and secondary breakers of its TR1 60MVA 132/33kV transformer, causing a loud bang and smoke. TCN stated that EKEDP's claim that TCN's T11 transformer tripped unexpectedly was incorrect, as the actual incident involved the simultaneous tripping of EKEDP's feeders.
