However, Trump did not follow this precedent, and his administration announced new sanctions without adequately preparing the public. Republicans have initially supported Trump's moves in Iran but have since expressed concern over the war's toll. Yet, they have not shown interest in cutting off funds for the war, instead focusing on portraying Democrats as extremists.
