Chengdu, China witnessed a scare for Taiwanese singer Angela Chang on August 23 during her concert's performance. The 44-year-old artist, who was on her Play Master concert tour, fell ill mid-show. Her sudden discomfort prompted staff to provide immediate medical assistance backstage. Footage circulated on social media showed her appearing uneasy while singing her 2007 hit, "Doesn't Hurt."

Chang tugged at her collar and skirt hem before staff members intervened during a costume change. They monitored her vitals, fitted her with supplemental oxygen, and massaged her arms and hands. Her emotional state was apparent on the venue's large screen as she wept. A message on the screen read: "I'm sorry, please give me three minutes."

After a short break, she returned to the stage to continue performing, including "Invisible Wings" and "Big Kid." Later, Chang, dressed in a purple sequined outfit and headpiece, addressed the incident, attributing the cause to her heart feeling like it "couldn't take it." She suspected the heat or her heavy costume could have been contributing factors.

She expressed regret, apologizing to those who sat through the ordeal, unaware of the situation. Chang later apologized on social media, reassuring fans that she was doing well and had undergone a thorough medical check-up, finding no issues. She attributed her diagnosis of mitral valve prolapse, a hereditary heart condition, to the event and had taken some time off to seek treatment in Canada. She plans to continue her tour in Guiyang on August 29.
