Politics : PH-BN To Decide Melaka Polls Strategy By Sept 16 - Amirudin

PKR election chief Amirudin Shari stated that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) parties may have a clearer strategy for the upcoming Melaka state election by Malaysia Day, which falls on September 16. Speaking to reporters, Amirudin, who also serves as Selangor menteri besar, explained that the negotiations are currently at an early stage, and a definitive decision will need to be endorsed by both PH and PKR.

He informed the media that additional discussions are planned this week to evaluate the advancement of the ongoing talks. Amirudin emphasized that the parties are still in the preliminary exploratory phase and cannot commit to a final arrangement yet. Nonetheless, he assured that he will provide updates to PH and PKR before reaching a consensus.

The ruling coalition will leverage their experiences from previous state elections - both in collaboration and competition - to identify the most suitable approach for Melaka. Amirudin noted that PH and BN have collaborated as a coalition in Melaka elections, faced off against each other in Johor and Negeri Sembilan, and have also worked closely together in Sabah. He expressed the hope that all these experiences will contribute to a mutually beneficial outcome.

Yesterday, PH's communications director, Fahmi Fadzil, reportedly indicated that the coalition has its own schedule and timeline for the preparations of the Melaka elections.
