Photoshop’s new AI Assisted Editor offers a prompt-based editing option

Adobe has introduced a simplified editing mode for Photoshop, targeting new users and existing professionals who don't require the full workspace for every edit. The AI Assisted Editor, currently in beta, presents a prompt-based interface akin to the Firefly editor instead of the comprehensive set of Photoshop tools. This streamlined editor features a side panel with generative AI (genAI) capabilities, including Generative Fill, Remove Background, and AI Markup, alongside a text prompt box.

Users can hide the new mode if they find it unnecessary. Other noteworthy Photoshop features unveiled include Prompt to Edit, allowing users to apply changes to an entire image through a simple prompt, and a "markup" feature that facilitates visual communication of edits to Firefly by drawing onto an image. The Instruct Edit with Masks, leveraging Firefly Image 5, enables users to specify what elements of an image to modify with text prompts, while leaving unmasked areas intact.

Additional updates include the Light Adjustment Layer, offering professional-grade lighting controls in a non-destructive adjustment layer, and a Stock Panel integration providing access to over 900 million Adobe Stock assets. Lastly, Dynamic Text, Shapes, and Paths automatically adapt text along curves in freeform layouts.
