Pengacara Muhyiddin Yassin, Amer Hamzah Arshad, has challenged the allegations that the former Prime Minister met with businessman Azman Yusoff at a Damansara golf club in July 2020. The High Court was informed that the meeting between Muhyiddin and Azman did not occur as claimed by Azman. During cross-examination, Amer questioned Azman about his statement that he met Muhyiddin after the Tan Sri Muhyiddin Charity Golf (TSMCG) event held at Tropicana Golf Club, Damansara.

Azman claimed that during the meeting, Muhyiddin informed him about the Jana Wibawa program and spontaneously mentioned that any donation from PKBM could be continuously channeled to Bersatu. Azman, as the president of the Malaysian Contractors Association of Malaysians (PKBM), testified on July 13, 2026, that the meeting took place in May 2020, but he changed the date to July 2020 in a later statement.

Amer contested both dates. Amer asked if Azman knew that the only TSMCG golf tournament in 2020 took place in October, not July. Azman was unsure. Amer asked if Azman is the member of the TSMCG executive committee, to which Azman agreed. Amer challenged Azman's assertion that he could not confirm the TSMCG tournament took place in October 2020 at Desaru, only three years after the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) recorded his statements.

Azman told the court that he went to Tropicana Golf Club to confirm the tournament date before providing another statement to MACC on August 13, 2026. Amer questioned the decision for Azman to change the meeting date to July 2020, three years after the MACC recorded his statements. Amer: You went to the MACC four times in 2023, but you never tried to confirm that information?

Azman: I agree. Amer: So, you maintain that the meeting took place in May 2020 and maintain this narrative from January 13, 2023, to August 13, 2026? Azman: Yes. Muhyiddin, 79, is currently on trial for four charges of abusing his position to obtain RM225.3 million in funding for Bersatu from Bukhary Equity Sdn Bhd, Nepturis Sdn Bhd, Mamfor Sdn Bhd, Azman, and KCJ Engineering.

He also faces three charges of converting illicit funds involving RM200 million allegedly received from Bukhary Equity and deposited into Bersatu's accounts at AmBank and CIMB Bank. The offenses are alleged to have occurred between March 1, 2020, and July 8, 2022. Deputy Crown Prosecutor Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin led the prosecution team. The trial continued before Judge Noor Ruwena Nurdin on September 1.
