Nepal flash floods: India sends second tranche of relief supplies

India dispatched a second shipment of relief supplies to Nepal on Thursday, August 27, 2026, via a military transport aircraft. The previous day, on August 26, New Delhi had airlifted 10 tonnes of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) materials, medicines, and food packets to the flood-stricken country. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar announced the delivery on social media.

India continues to maintain close communication with Nepalese authorities and remains committed to supporting ongoing relief efforts.

Nepal experienced severe flash floods along its border with Tibet, resulting in over 170 fatalities and widespread destruction. The first aid package was dispatched shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with his Nepalese counterpart, Balendra Shah, promising extensive humanitarian assistance. On social media, Mr. Modi expressed solidarity with the people of Nepal during this challenging time.

The second aid shipment consists of emergency items, such as temporary shelters, blankets, hygiene kits, solar lamps, and medicines. Sources indicate that New Delhi will send additional relief supplies in the coming days. India is prepared to provide all possible humanitarian assistance to help Nepal recover from the disaster.
